Keep an eye on this space as I’ll soon be sharing some of the details of an Arduino based dual-stage multi-step fermentation controller project I’m working on. My goal is to make something brewers can put together for under $100 without skimping on functionality.

I have been looking into doing something similar. Check out brewpi.com

Hi Zach,
Yes, I’ve seen BrewPi. There are a few things I don’t like about that project as I think it’s overly complicated (including both an Arduino and a Raspberry Pi, wiring into the electrics of the fridge, etc.) I think my approach is going to be lower coast, easier to build, and be more flexible and extensible. Consider my work to be friendly competition to what he’s doing.
In case anyone finds this post later, I’ve actually abandoned this work. This same concept has been better executed by someone on the following thread: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/howto-make-brewpi-fermentation-controller-cheap-466106/. Plus, I have more money than time these days so bought a couple of BrewBit Pi units.
